We are very pleased to formally announce the next three events in our ComSciCon national workshop series, to take place in the summers of 2015, 2016, and 2017!
These events are possible thanks to generous support from the Graduate School of Arts and Science, Faculty of Arts and Science, and Office of the Provost at Harvard University and the MIT Office of the Dean for Graduate Education. Their sponsorship of ComSciCon makes clear Harvard University and MIT’s commitment to the communication of science, and scholarship broadly, to audiences throughout and beyond the academy, and to the professional development of young scientists, engineers, and other technical professionals.
Like our past national workshops (in 2013 and 2014), these upcoming events will be open to graduate students in all fields of science and engineering and universities nationwide.
Attendees will work together with peers and invited experts, professional science communicators in diverse fields of practice, to explore and develop innovative techniques for the communication of complex technical concepts to broad and diverse audiences. As our past national workshops each received about 800 graduate student applications, we anticipate strong demand for these newly announced events.
These commitments and more targeted sponsorships from other institutions will combine to support student and speaker travel, accommodations, workshop equipment and materials, and other expenses related to the upcoming national programs. We aim to make all ComSciCon national workshops free to attend for graduate students, as our past events have been, through travel reimbursement and provided accommodations.
The student application for the ComSciCon15 national workshop will open in January, 2015. To be notified of major announcements and events related to ComSciCon, sign up for our informational email list on Google Groups.
